Part 2 contains 'Hoi tēs Sibyllēs chrēsmoi = The Sibylline oracles', with a divisional half title page, (the first four words of which are transliterated from the Greek), with separate pagination and register. Text is in Greek with parallel English translation. The English translation of 'The Sibylline oracles' is by Sir J. Floyer, corrected by W. Whiston. The oldest Christian document since the New Testament, explicitly avowing the doctrine of the universal forgiveness of mankind , is the "Sibylline Oracles." Different portions of this composition were written at different dates, from 181 B.C. to 267 A.D. |
